Lonestar band Travels to Southern France
Experience the journey.
Watch the trip video below.
Eighty years ago, the 36th Infantry Division landed on the beaches of Provence, helping to liberate France during one of history’s darkest chapters. To commemorate this significant milestone, the division’s band recently returned to Saint-Raphaël, bringing history to life through a series of powerful performances.
Throughout the week, the band played at key historical sites, starting with a moving ceremony at the Anthéor Viaduct, where the echoes of the past felt almost tangible. They were also welcomed with heartfelt hospitality during a special dinner hosted by local volunteers, highlighting the enduring friendship between the people of Saint-Raphaël and the soldiers who once fought and died for their freedom.
The week’s events culminated in a stirring concert on the Esplanade du Débarquement. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the band’s music served as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice that defined the Provence Landing.
This trip was more than a series of events; it was a living connection to a proud history. We invite you to watch the full recap video and join us in remembering the brave men and women of the 36th Infantry Division.
