SSG Melissa Boski
clarinet, vocals - rock before dawn
Staff Sergeant Melissa Boski began her army career in March 2002 with the 106th Army Band in Arkansas after a friend asked if she wanted to play music and make money. SSG Boski spent six years with the 106th traveling and playing music all over Arkansas and the US, performing for the governor's inauguration, and even working with former President and first lady Clinton for a week. In 2008, SSG Boski decided to transfer to active duty, and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas serving with Fort Sam's Own, the 323rd Army Band. During that time, she met and married her better half, Sergeant First Class James Boski, who was and is currently with the 36th Infantry Division Band. SSG Boski joined her husband in the Lone Star Band in December 2012. Over the 21 years of service, SSG Boski has performed on clarinet, tenor saxophone, piano, and sung in multiple music performance teams.
Melissa earned a Bachelor's degree in music education in 2002 from Henderson State University and was a band director for five and half years, prior to her active duty service. SSG Boski and her husband live in Austin and have four wonderfully amazing children, Isaiah, Lily, Andrew, and Michael.
